Political
Action
Oregon
psychiatrists face significant challenges in the public policy
arena from ending insurance discrimination against patients
to providing adequate funding for mental health services to
fighting scope of practice expansion for non-medical professionals.
The Oregon Psychiatrists Political Action Committee exists
to help get psychiatrists' message to legislators through
campaign contributions.
OPPAC
seeks to endorse legislative candidates who have a record
of supporting psychiatry and who further understand the value
of a strong system of mental health care. OPPAC also helps
political newcomers based on interviews about our key issues.
We encourage
all psychiatrists to contribute to this important political
effort. Contributions can be sent to OPPAC; PO Box 2042; Salem,
OR 97308. Corporate as well as personal checks are accepted
and personal contributions may qualify for an Oregon state
income tax credit of up to $100 on a joint return.
