We are committed to providing our insureds with a wide-variety of free educational opportunities and tutorials that cover topics relevant to psychiatric practice.

Professional Risk Management Services, Inc. (PRMS, Inc.) is accredited by the Accreditation Council For Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Continuing Medical Education:

For Program Insureds (Login Required)

To apply for continuing medical education credit, view the presentation and complete the post-test and evaluation form. To earn the risk management discount, you must complete at least four hours of approved risk management education. An electronic certificate verifying your credit will be generated automatically once you have completed both forms.

HIPAA:

  • HIPAA's Security Rule (2008) (For Program Insureds; Login Required)
    Covered entities under HIPAA must be in compliance with the Security Rule by April 2005. This presentation will provide program members with basic information about this regulation as well as useful resources. 13 min.
    Update: Since this presentation was recorded, HITECH was enacted – civil penalties have increased and the Security Rule is now enforced by the Office of Civil Rights (OCR)
  • Enforcement of HIPAA's Privacy Rule by HHS, DOJ, and the Courts (2008) (For Program Insureds; Login Required)
    The Privacy Rule has been enforceable since April 2003. This presentation reviews HHS’ civil enforcement activities, criminal enforcement by the Department of Justice, and Privacy Rule cases decided by the courts. 27 min.
